We procured and installed two 7.5-TN overhead cranes and one 3-TN gooseneck crane in accordance with the owner’s performance specifications. The work took place inside the operating powerhouse, so our highest priorities were minimizing downtime and preventing unplanned outages. All work was performed within the project schedule, including the rerouting of mechanical piping found to be in conflict with the new crane alignment in the field.
The biggest challenge we encountered during the project was installing overhead cranes inside the powerhouse at a different location than they were originally planned to be installed. This required tedious detailing, planning, modeling, and conflict resolution to adjust the existing systems to accommodate the new cranes.
